Dhananjayan has an MBA in Marketing from Mumbai University with over 25 years of experience, working in different industries in top management positions. He worked with reputed organizations like Asian Paints, Kansai-Nerolac Paints, Saregama-HMV, Airtel, Vodafone, Moser Baer and Disney-UTV. He has been a film business professional for over 15 years, having worked in film music, Home Video (DVD/VCD) and film production organizations. He has produced or co-produced over 25 films so far in Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi and many of them were commercial successes and critically acclaimed. To name a few Poo, Sankat City (Hindi), Raman Thedia Seethai, Aval Peyar Tamilarasi, Kanden Kadhalai, Deivathirumagal, Vettai, Grand Master (Malayalam), Husbands in Goa (Malayalam), Kalakalappu, Theeya Velai Seiyyanum Kumaru, Ivan Veramathiri, Naan Sigappu Manithan, Sigaram Thodu, Purampokku Engira Podhuvudamai and Irudhi Suttru. He recently formed a film distribution and marketing organization under the name Blue Ocean Entertainment and has released the film Zero in Tamil in March 2016.
Dhananjayan has written two books on the history of Tamil Cinema titled THE BEST OF TAMIL CINEMA: 1931 TO 2010 and PRIDE OF TAMIL CINEMA: 1931 TO 2013, which have been widely appreciated by the legends of Tamil film industry. The book PRIDE OF TAMIL CINEMA has earned him the National Film Award for Best Writing on Cinema (Special Mention) in 2015. His collection of Tamil articles on the film industry was published as a book by The Hindu newspaper under the title Vellithiraiyin Vetri Manthirangal in 2015, which is one of the best sellers for the last two years. He is respected for his marketing and writing skills and is well acquitted with many top talents in the South film industry. He is a columnist in various newspapers and magazines. BOFTA is his brainchild and he is the Founding Managing Director and Dean of the academy.
